What if I’ve got Sheilas’ Wheels Travel Insurance or am thinking of taking out cover?

As with any type of insurance, having the right travel cover is really important. After all, what if something happens out of the blue? So, it’s crucial your specific needs are covered.

If you’ve not got our Travel Insurance, now’s a good time to get a quote – you’ll get quality cover and value for money. If you already have Sheilas’ Wheels Annual Travel Insurance or took our Travel Insurance Add-On when you got our home insurance, please take look at your policy to see exactly what’s covered for things like travel disruption (including delays or cancellations) and medical emergencies. Also check your Policy Booklet.

What should I do if my holiday’s cancelled due to Brexit?

Booked your flight and accommodation direct with an airline or other provider? Get in touch with them as you may be able to get a refund. Also, make sure you check the cancellation conditions for any accommodation you’ve booked.

Booked through a travel agent? Please contact them as you’re likely to have ATOL protection.

Bought an ABTA-protected trip? You might be able to claim back your costs as you’ll have extra consumer protection.

Paid by credit card or PayPal? You might be able to claim back your costs as you’ll have extra consumer protection.

What if I change my mind about travelling?

Don’t worry, there are a few things we can to help with if you really don’t want to travel. We can either:

  • ‘Defer’ your insurance – you’ll need to go on  holiday within 6 months though
  • Refund your single trip policy premium in full – that’s as long as you haven’t claimed on it or are making a claim

On the other hand, if you fancy getting away to somewhere outside the EU, we’ll happily update your cover to the new destination. If our underwriters agree to this, then you’ll just need to pay any difference in premium.

What if I’ve still got a question?

Give us a call on 0345 604 3563 and we’ll do our very best to help you out.

Here are some tips to try and help you with your next holiday

  • Booking a package holiday will be the most comprehensive way to protect your holiday. The UK government has confirmed that Package Travel Regulations will remain in UK law when the UK leaves the EU, so to benefit from this cover you should try and book a package holiday
  • Is your passport in date? When travelling to the EU, the UK government recommends you have at least 6 months left on your passport on the date of arrival
  • Before you leave home. Check with your airline, tour operator or travel agent that your planned journey has not been affected by any Brexit-related issues
  • Are you on any medication? Make sure you pack enough supplies, just in case your return trip is delayed or cancelled. Plus, always carry them with you in your hand luggage – although be aware of any restrictions on carrying liquid in your hand luggage if you have any liquid medication
